Seminar: Sustainable futures for craft

By going back in time to the beginning of industrialization and looking at how women worked at home with machines in a meshwork between craft and industry, we set in perspective the contemporary organization of care and repair work both in fashion design companies and in the craft of independent craft makers.
By moving between economic history and contemporary practical experience, we will shed new light on craft’s sustainable futures. In a workshop, the Gothenburg design company Nudie will engage with textile repair and in a conversation about the history and sustainable futures of textile craft industry with economic historian Malin Nilsson, Lund University, and management professors Kajsa Lindberg and Niklas Egels-Zandén, University of Gothenburg.
