Panel discussion: Craft and technology

Som avslutning för våra hantverks- och teknologiexperiment i Super Ö kommer ett panelsamtal med forskare, hantverkare och konstnärer att diskutera relationen mellan hantverksarbete och ny teknologi.

The research projects Hephaestus (Horizon Europe) and Transforming the City for Play (Formas) organize two weeks of encounters between craft and technologies, varying from low-tech co-crafting interventions to generative AI speculation and 3-D printing. As a way of finissage for this period, a panel conversation with researchers, artists, and craftmakers involved will reflect on the (im)possibilities of craft with new technologies, based on the activities that have taken place in the Super Ö between 20 May and 4 June.

Co-crafting workshops, the speculative exhibition Brave New World, the creations of craftmakers’ residences at the FabLab in Venice, and the experiments with datafication of craft will provide the basis for our discussion.
