Everything from the mobile phone in your pocket to the T-shirt you have on or even the font in this text is a result of design. The permanent exhibition Design Stories offers a journey of discovery from the mid-1800s to today with over 500 objects from the museum’s collection. Welcome to a world of design!
The Röhsska Museum’s permanent exhibition displays applied arts and crafts from Asia that reveals the stories and inspirations between the Nordic countries and East Asia. Here, objects from one of Europe’s oldest museum collections are shown in a new light, alongside contemporary design and craft.
The Röhsska Museum’s collection includes more than 500 chairs. In the open storage repository, visitors can peruse a selection that spans more than 300 years. The chair is an inherently interesting design object that is generally expected to be comfortable, practical and aesthetically pleasing.
The Gothenburg Museum of Art is home to one of Northern Europe’s finest art collections. Here, works by masters like Rembrandt, Picasso, and van Gogh are shown alongside contemporary artists such as Charlotte Gyllenhammar, Lina Selander, and Cajsa von Zeipel.
Take a journey through 12,000 years of dramatic history. In the historic East India House from the 1750s, you’ll encounter one of Sweden’s largest cultural history collections—from the country’s only displayed Viking ship to the world’s first Volvo. Experience Gothenburg in hardship and joy!
At the Maritime Museum & Aquarium you’ll find adventurous stories with fantastic objects and exhibitions for all ages. The aquariums offer exciting underwater worlds with seaweed forests, fish and a living coral reef.
