Shadow situations

This exhibition Shadows situations presents work by students from the MFA Design program at HDK-Valand Academy of Art and Design.

It brings together materials, documentation, and process from the course “Relational Practice” that engaged closely with objects from the Röhsska Museum, specifically the exhibition Design Stories.

As part of the course, students investigated museum objects through research, interpretation, and design experimentation. Rather than focusing on what objects visibly communicate, the projects explore their “shadows”: hidden qualities, overlooked narratives, and underlying social, cultural, or material issues that also shape an object’s story.
From 14–16 January, the students will present the material, documentation, and research processes that form the basis of their work.

The projects explore the act of waiting, re-imagining public furniture, urban waterfronts, bedtime stories as containers for cultural heritage, non-human perspective, representation and much more.

This exhibition at Super Ö is part of an ongoing collaboration with HDK-Valand Academy of Art & Design.
