Welcome to a workshop where we explore how borders, surveillance and new technologies are shaping Nordic openness.
What would the world look like if we followed craftsmanship principles instead of mass production? D20 explores this by contrasting a sustainable, craftsmanship-based future with the unsustainable industrial model, using AI and artisanal sketches to imagine such a world.
The fascination of people with technology is at the forefront as seven technological objects from the Design Stories exhibition are explored. The result is a new audio guide, created in collaboration with artist Gloria López Cleries and the MA Embedded Design program at HDK-Valand, that offers a new experience of the technological and digital objects in the exhibition. The audio guide will be available in Design Stories from February 2025.
Alongside the audio guide, López Cleries’ sculpture Tezcatl (2021) will also be presented in the theme of Innovation within Design Stories.
Students from HDK-Valand’s craft specializations have created their own interpretations of the Design Stories exhibition under the theme of change.
In the installation Remix – Just Add Play!, students from HDK-Valand have reimagined design classics with children in mind. Discover and try out ten playful prototypes – from SKF’s ball bearings to Gustavsberg’s porcelain stool from 1899.
In Kulturlabbet’s installation, creative expression was unleashed, and the result was a large portion of art displayed in Super Ö.
